WELCOME TO OUR ORGANIC ESTATES

PANZANO BIO FARM , MUGELLO, FLORENCE

Guasconi di Villamena

Organic in Tuscany

Our Panzano Bio Farm occupies 140 hectares at the foot of the Calvana mountains,

in the municipality of Barberino di Mugello.

Barberino di Mugello is our nearest town; we're in the upper Mugello area, the valley of the Sieve, which feeds Lake Bilancino.

The area is steeped in history and is the home of the Medici family, who built palaces, castles and monasteries. The area lies on the ancient road connecting Bologna and Florence, known as the "Road of the Gods", which follows a route 2000 years old.
This region offers the opportunity to explore a number of historic routes: the routes of the painters Giotto, Cimabue and Beato Angelico, the Scarperia route with the museum of knives, the route of the Medicean Villas; as well as cycle routes and CAI walking trails.

Just 10 minutes from the guest house is the Scarperia circuit, a venue for MotoGP events; for shopping enthusiasts, there's the nearby Barberino Designer Outlet Centre.

The Panzano estate is in a strategic location just 3 km from the A1 exit for Barberino di Mugello and 5 km from the centre of Barberino; set on a hilltop with views of the entire Futa valley and Lake Bilancino. There are beautiful panoramic views from several points on the property.

Typical landscapes which guests can enjoy, even during walks on the estate, include dry stone wall terraces and fields surrounded by semi mountain vegetation, with numerous streams that run down to join the Sieve river.

The main activity here is olive growing and the production of a special mild-flavoured olive oil which is extremely low in acidity.

On the estate we have an olive grove with approximately 600 trees, and every year we produce our own extra virgin oil, which we sell directly to guests at Agriturismo Villa Panzano, alongside other local produce grown on our farm.

The olive trees are native varieties from the Upper Mugello area: Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino.

The estate offers tourist accommodation in the ancient villa and, within the Reserve, there is the option of hunting all year round.

The Panzano hunting reserve at the foot of the Calvana mountains offers an excellent environment for hunters and their dogs. Pheasants, grey partridge, quail, red partridge and hares: wild fauna all year round on our estate.
Hunting is permitted from 1 February until the third Sunday in September in the area reserved for dog training, with or without shooting.
An important feature of the landscape in the reserve is the number of streams, which means the area stays cool even in the middle of summer.
Our hunting lodge is available for hunters coming to the estate to spend a relaxing and invigorating time; they are welcomed by the owner Gemma Guasconi, who lives on site and manages our reserve and guest house.
